I've always been opposed to the baby carriers because they look so uncomfortable but have learned it is very important for your adopted child because you need to hold them close to you as much as possible so they learn that you are here with them forever.
I put mine on this morning and what a laught.....just not the same as our practice run at home with Bethany's teddy bear. He didn't squirm or cry in my face as we fumbled with clips and hooks. But after half an hour at this, it was on and what a great feeling to have her close and tight, not to mention giving my arms a break from holding her. I'm still not sure about them but for now it is the best thing for us and she actually enjoys it. When we traded with Daddy she quietly slept and took her nap.
Tuesday morning we headed off to the Welfare Office where we met our babies for the first time. We were to be sworn in by the Government Official as legal parents of our babies.
It was so emotional to be walking back into the room holding our babies. We also had a chance to meet the Director from the orphanage and the Nanny Supervisor who did home visits with the foster families. We were given the chance to ask them questions about our babies and exchange gifts in gratitude. We did not know that they too would be giving us gifts.
When the Director saw Bethany he called her by her nick name "Jun Jun" and she smiled at him. He was also grinning from ear to ear and I am certain he had misty eyes as he went around the room watching each family with their babies. We received our official documents of adoption and the Director gave us a silver bangle for Bethany along with a CD of pictures of her before we met her. Tim and I LOVE them. I have chosen one of my favorites and posted it as my profile picture for my blog. It is sad to see pictures of her with her Foster Mother. I am so greatful for the love and care this Special Lady has given our angel in the past four months. Thanks to this Lady, Bethany is a very healthy and happy little girl.
We were able to ask the Nanny questions too. Our friends were impressed by how prepared Tim and I were with a list of questions. They said it looked like we were gathering information to do a CNN documentary. Among all the questions we were told that she is very outgoing and friendly, that everywhere she goes people go to her and she befriends them. So, she is already like her parents, friendly like her mom & dad but most of all very hyper like her Daddy.
Once we were done, we headed to the local Wal-Mart and bought enough food to keep us going while in our room. When we got back we fed her and put her to sleep because she missed her morning nap. She slept for 3 solid hours while we watch a movie and got some rest ourselves.
She is a really good baby and sleeps through the night without fussing or crying for her bottle as mentioned in her schedule.
